As part of Business Crime Reduction Partnership Awareness Week, the My-MK team took part in a SaBA (Safety and Business Against Crime) Day yesterday. They worked alongside Thames Valley Police's neighbourhood team and were joined by the Thames Valley Police Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber, to engage with retailers across Milton Keynes City Centre.

Together, they highlighted the benefits of signing up to the DISC information-sharing platform and joining the BID radio scheme — two key initiatives aimed at enhancing safety and communication in the City Centre.

DISC is a digital tool, funded for businesses across the Thames Valley area by the Police Crime Commissioner, that enables businesses to share intelligence on crime and antisocial behaviour, helping to create a safer trading environment.

Meanwhile, the BID radio scheme ensures instant, real-time communication between businesses, the BID's My Local Bobby security officers, shopping centre security teams and police officers on patrol.

During the visit, Rob, My-MK’s Public Realm & Operations Manager, and our Security Officer, Sam, also took the opportunity to hand out flyers for the BID’s upcoming Business Breakfast, taking place next week. The event will focus on how Milton Keynes businesses can be prepared to respond in the event of a major incident, providing valuable insights and guidance to local retailers and stakeholders.

If you haven’t yet signed up for DISC or the BID radio scheme, now is the time to get involved!
